Description
A matched pair of tall, narrow decorative wall panels, each depicting a finely painted mountainous landscape in gilt and muted metallic tones against a deep blue-black ground. Vertical Chinese calligraphic inscriptions accompany the landscape compositions, and narrow gilt borders frame each panel.
The slender vertical proportions are characteristic of decorative panels intended to flank an architectural feature, doorway, cabinet or other furnishing. The reverse reveals plain wood construction with attached mounting components, and hanging hardware is retained at the top.
Inscriptions & Marks
Each panel carries vertical Chinese calligraphic inscriptions accompanying the landscape. The inscriptions have not been transcribed or translated.
Condition
Both panels present and matching. Decorative surfaces largely intact, with some edge wear and minor surface losses; the wood backs show age and handling. Hanging hardware present; no obvious major structural break.
