Description
A decorative cabinet distinguished by carved, gilded and painted panels over a dark ground with red detailing, in the long-standing Chinese tradition of combining household storage with ornament intended to enhance the interior. The decoration appears to have been executed by hand and employs traditional motifs characteristic of Chinese domestic furniture.
Visible surface wear and patination contribute to the cabinet's character and suggest prolonged use. The interior construction indicates traditional joinery.
